France's Top Android Music & Podcast Apps in Q1 2021: A Sensor Tower Report

As the new year unfolded, the music and podcasting landscape on Android devices in France saw varied performance among top applications. Sensor Tower's data provides a glimpse into the download and user activity trends for the first quarter of 2021.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts remained a dominant player with a steady weekly active user base, starting the year with 5.69M and peaking at 5.88M by the end of March. Downloads for Spotify fluctuated, beginning at approximately 48K and dipping to around 30K by the quarter's end.

Shazam: Find Music & Concerts experienced a decrease in downloads from 36K to approximately 23K, although weekly active users saw a less pronounced decline, starting at 1.12M and slightly increasing to 1.05M.

Amazon's entry, Amazon Music: Songs & Podcasts, showed a similar pattern with downloads starting at about 40K and ending the quarter around 21K. The weekly active user count for Amazon Music remained relatively stable, hovering near the 280K mark.

Deezer: Music & Podcast Player, hailing from France, showed resilience in its home market. Deezer's revenue saw minimal fluctuations, remaining around a few hundred dollars weekly. Downloads saw a decline from 39K to approximately 17K, with weekly active users starting at 2.28M and maintaining stability around 2.4M by quarter's end.

Lastly, YouTube Music saw its downloads begin at 24K, with some variability, ending slightly lower at around 20K. The platform's weekly active users showed a positive trend, starting at 2.4M and increasing to a peak of 2.63M in late March.
